Anti Crane Collision System

Crane operations are among the most critical and high-risk activities in steel plants. With heavy machinery constantly in motion, the risk of man–machine incidents is ever-present. To address this challenge, In the CMD department Docketrun has introduced an advanced Anti-Collision System, specifically designed to enhance workplace safety and protect personnel working around cranes.

The Need for Safer Crane Operations

Crane bay areas are bustling with activity, where visibility is often limited, and multiple operations run simultaneously. In such environments, even a minor lapse can lead to serious accidents. The Anti-Collision System ensures that both operators and workers are shielded from unexpected hazards, reducing the likelihood of incidents.

How the System Works

The safety solution is built around two core components:

Wearable Device for Personnel

    • Each worker in the crane bay is equipped with a compact, easy-to-wear device that attaches securely to the waist.
    • The device activates with a simple slide button and features an emergency red button for dual functionality:
      • SOS Alert: Press and hold for five seconds to immediately notify authorities during fault detection or emergencies.
      • Alarm Stop: A quick press silences the node alarm if necessary.
    • With a battery life of up to seven hours, it ensures continuous protection during a worker’s shift.

Crane-Mounted Nodes with Hooter

    • Four nodes are installed at each corner of the crane to provide 360-degree coverage.
    • These nodes are linked to a central node located with the crane operator.
    • If any worker wearing the device comes within 15 metres of the crane, the system triggers an emergency alert, preventing unsafe proximity.
    • Additionally, the central node is integrated with relay outputs capable of stopping crane operations in the event of a potential collision.

Benefits of the Anti-Collision System

  • Accident Prevention: Detects unsafe proximity and prevents man–machine incidents.
  • Real-Time Alerts: Immediate hooter signals ensure quick response and operator awareness.
  • Worker Empowerment: Wearable SOS button gives personnel control during emergencies.
  • Seamless Integration: Compact design makes it easy to deploy without interrupting operations.

A Safer Future for Steel Plants

By combining wearable technology with automated crane safety mechanisms, Docketrun’s Anti-Collision System sets a new benchmark for industrial safety. It not only safeguards lives but also reinforces the company’s commitment to a secure and efficient working environment.

As industries continue to evolve, innovations like this prove that safety and productivity can go hand in hand.
